August’s PlaylistOn August 19, 2017 by Samantha Jean
Stress wreaks tons of havoc on our bodies. It can ruin our whole day, cause issues with our sleep, upset our routines, put a damper on our moods, and cause other super not fun things to happen in our lives. Which is why it’s really important to make sure you have a way to alleviate some of that stress from your life and refresh yourself! My absolute and total favorite stress reliever?! Music! And with a new month, comes a few new song suggestions I’m going to share with all you lovelies! And if you’re in the mood for some fun sounds and awesome rhythms, you’ll love ‘em.
Some Kind of Wonderful by Betty Who
I’m a millennial who truly enjoys all types of music – from punk rock to dance to indie folk. I’m especially fond of fun songs with addicting beats that make me feel energized, happy, and optimistic about things! This fun number is one of my current favorites. I heard this gem while watching The Bold Type (which I talked about in last month’s playlist post) and I really enjoyed it. Pop has always been one of my favorite genres, and this is the kind of song I’d blast while I’m getting ready for a girls night our or to go out for a run. It’s fast-paced and cool!
Na Na Na by the Pentatonix
I’ve always been so awestruck by this band. If you’ve never heard them, they are an acapella group, and their work is fantastic. Like really, how on earth can no music in the background sound this cohesive and good?? I think I discovered them a few years back with some Christmas music they had done (which was also amazing, by the way), but I discovered this particular song very recently during a late-night, iTunes binge session. This is another all around fun song. And fun songs feel so fitting in summer! It’s happy and has a good beat and again – this group just does fantastic work.
Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato
This is a pretty popular song right now, so chances are good you may have already heard this on the radio or iTunes. When I listened the first time, I wasn’t overly sold. Now, after listening to it all the way through and pay more attention to the lyrics, I love it. If I could have a theme song, this would be one of my choices (at least for where my life is right now, anyway). I have always liked Demi – she takes me back to when I was a kid and watched her on Disney Channel, so I like to support her. But this song just feels empowering and sexy, and perhaps I am so fond of it because I just came off the heels of a relationship myself, but it really is a fun listen. If you haven’t heard this one already, I strongly recommend it. Get ready to feel bad ass.
I might be on a bit of a girl power-type song kick right now, but either way, the songs are good. They are probably crawling up on my “Most Played” playlist on my iPod right about now, which embarrassingly I will admit takes quite a lot of listens because I spend way too much time with my headphones in. Fun fact—I love my iPod SO much that I named it Timmy. In case you were wondering. 🙂
Have any other songs that are frequenting your headphones lately? Please share! It’s like second Christmas when I can add some new songs to my library!!
