My Blogger Recognition AwardOn July 28, 2017 by Samantha Jean
I always have to giggle a little bit when people ask me why I started a blog. Some of my good friends who have known me for quite a while know that I have always been a writer in one form or another. I used to write poetry, took stabs a fictional short stories for fun, write business documents all day at work, and even all my English classes were a breeze. It’s something I thoroughly enjoy and it’s not always perfect or funny or heck, even grammatically correct (that’s so boring, anyway) but it’s words from a real person whose experienced quite a lot for only being 25 years old.
And I thought to myself, “what is a fun and fulfilling way to do the thing I love in a way that will mesh with my crazy busy life, while also being able to share some of my experiences, adventures, life lessons and passion?” and I thought—a blog.
And even with my blog being fairly new to the world wide web, I’ve recently been nominated for the Blogger Recognition award by Lauren Pittman from Mothering Honestly (thank you so very much, Lauren!!). Her site is a lovely mommy blog that shares wonderful insight in to motherhood, delicious recipes, and more! Check it out!!
I’ve only been blogging for a short period of time, but I’ve already stumbled across many inspiring blogs, beautiful souls, and inspiring individuals on this journey. I’ve also found so many beautiful Instagram pages that I’ve learned lead to equally as beautifully written blogs, and these people just truly inspire me. They inspire me to be a better mom. They inspire me to better myself. And they inspire me to fill a larger part of my life with one of the things I love most. Ultimately, they inspire me to write.
So, I started a blog. And yes, it’s new; and yes, it’s not the best one out there. But it’s real. It’s authenticity from a regular person just like you who has experienced the loss of so many loved ones; a marriage and divorce; the birth of a beautiful human being; years of immense growth as a person; the achievement of some of her dreams; and it’s from someone who can—likely imperfectly—put them in to words to share with others who can maybe relate.
And to the individuals who actually take the time to read these posts—I say the sincerest of thank you’s. Because when you take the few minutes out of your day to acknowledge the product of me giving my passion a little bit of life, it means so much to me. You are the ones I want to share with, maybe inspire, maybe share a bit of wisdom with, maybe make laugh, and maybe make think a little. The ones who give me the time of day. And that’s awesome! So kudo’s to you—and all the individuals out there who support people pursuing a passion just like me!
And my two pieces of advice to anyone looking or starting to blog: 1.) just do it. Don’t worry if it’s super successful or if you don’t have it all figured it out yet as it will come, and 2.) write about what you love. Because there’s nothing more important than being true to yourself with the words you write!
